Community Choice Aggregation

Butte County and the City of Chico are currently researching whether Community Choice Aggregation (CCA) could be a good opportunity for its communities. CCA is a program that allows cities, counties and other qualifying governmental entities to purchase and/or generate electricity for their residents and businesses.

Butte County and the City of Chico hosted four community meetings to provide an overview of how a CCA could work for its communities, gather feedback and answer specific questions from the public. While there are no upcoming meetings planned, there are still ways to engage in this process: 

 

Current Status

  • The feasibility study was presented to the Butte County Board of Supervisors and the Chico City Council.  
  • Both the Board and the Council provided direction to staff to gather input from businesses and residents, and to continue feasibility research. 
  • The topic will come back to the Butte County Board of Supervisors and the Chico City Council for discussion in the fall.
